When in Rome...

Okay, I give up. I did it. I joined Facebook. I seriously see it taking up ALL of my time! It's very addictive. And you can find all sorts of people from your past. Which can be good and bad. But you can also annoy people, which is kinda fun sometimes. So if you don't wanna be found, don't go there! Otherwise.... watch out for the Pillow Fights!

To Facebook or Not to Facebook

Pondering whether to sign up on Facebook. It seems everyone I went to high school with is hanging around there. So if I want to hook up with them, that's the place to be. But wait, most of them treated me like crap in high school. Are these people I want to associate with anyway? Just coz we're adults? Who says they aren't still assholes? Well, thanks to Classmates.com, I've found the few people I actually LIKED back then. So... dilemma, dilemma. Do I want to show them who has become a better person, or do I just not care enough to try? Hm. Are any of them worth it?

6 Degrees from Me (#237)

Okay, maybe not #237, I just made that number up. I really don't have 236 more examples of everyone being 6 degrees or less removed from me. But I do have a good example here:

Ever since Scott McIntyre performed "Mandolin Rain" on American Idol this past week, I have had that song running thru my head. YES! I have a Bruce Hornsby story....

In 1987, I was living in Portsmouth, VA with my sister and dating a guy named Jeff Grey. He was a sound technician-cum-musician who did sound for a local band called the Smith-Wade Band. He also (according to him) did sound on Bruce Hornsby's original demo for his 1986 album, "The Way It Is," which ended up featuring "Mandolin Rain." In fact, he had Bruce Hornsby's baby grand piano in his living room.

Unfortunately, I didn't start journaling my life until 1988 so I don't have any first-hand accounts of that time, but after I went off to college, I did once get a drunken phone call from Jeff. I might have that written down somewhere!
